New dance class in the Piedmont for parents, children. POSTED 8:32 PM, SEPTEMBER 8, 2016, BY NATALIE WILSON WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A new Piedmont dance class is giving parents a unique way to get in shape while bonding with their children.
It’s called “Bird’s Nest” Parent/Child Baby Wearing Dance. Parents move with their bundles of joy as they’re wrapped against them.
It’s a new class at Juxtaposition Studios in Winston-Salem for parents, guardians and women who are pregnant.
The class helps women remain active during their pregnancy as well as post pregnancy.
“It’s not just moms. Dads and grandparents can come,” said Kay Partridge, owner and director of Juxtaposition Studios.
The class is designed for children three weeks to two years old.
The movements are low-impact and include both standing work and floor exercises.
“I think after you have a baby, your body is kind of not used to moving as much in the same ways. I was very active before, so it’s a perfect way to kind of get out and get moving,” participant Serah Haley said.
The music and movement can be fun for both parents and children, but the activity is also intended to be a bonding experience.
“Bird’s Nest” Parent/Child Baby Wearing Dance is offered every Thursday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at Juxtaposition Studios.
